Maggie kept saying that she was not any good at telling stories. Meanwhile, she told a story about her career turning point that was both vivid and compelling. Like Maggie, many people dismiss their lives as boring and dull (I grew up in the suburbs, I do not have any interesting stories). This session will help professionals find and polish story gems that will enhance their impact in innovation, leadership, public speaking, employee coaching, sales, counseling and education. Whether you are a natural or wannabe storyteller, learn how to create stories of human struggle and triumph that leave your listeners pondering new truths. You will learn essential skills for personal storytelling to amplify the impact of your business communications: mining your life for stories, developing plot and meaning, and using descriptive language to depict characters and scenes. You will:
• Explore your career and personal life for stories that can be used in professional communications.
• Find deeper meaning in your stories and connect it to business/professional situations.
• Practice personal storytelling skills through story sharing exercises.
