EXT0802 Empathy Activist Training

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Love is the answer. But how do you DO that? This training was originally created as a response to the U.S. election to help Americans struggling with how to interact with their colleagues, friends and families that held opposing political views. People were feeling hurt, afraid and even betrayed by those closest to them. Connection is possible, even when you disagree, but it takes specific skills to create these conversations. You will also learn how to better protect your own feelings and perspective, as well as how and when to speak so you are most likely to be heard. You will leave this workshop with the resources to lead this training in your own community. Previous participants have replicated this training for church groups, activists and community groups in both the U.S. and abroad. You will:
• Learn a simple, conceptual framework to quickly understand conflict.
• Practice a high-impact empathy technique that rapidly diffuses tension and creates connection.
• Develop skills to manage the conversation, no matter how intense the emotions.
